Melissa McCarthy is easily one of the most recognizable women in comedy today, and 2016 saw her undergo an impressive weight loss. Usually known for her funny roles, McCarthy has lost about 75 pounds, and fans are wondering just what she has done to lose the weight.
Reports say that McCarthy attributes her weight loss to high-protein and low-carb diets and a healthy tea drink. The popular diets that McCarthy has been crediting her weight loss to are the Atkins, Paleo, and Zone diets; she also follows a number of ketogenic diets.
It's even said that McCarthy's cousin, Jenny McCarthy, has also adopted her diet supposedly because of it's long-lasting result.
McCarthy is also said to drink two cups of green tea everyday in order to properly detox her system. She also drinks kale smoothies to keep the weight off; McCarthy also has a lot of spinach, apples, and chia seeds in her diet.
Other reports say that McCarthy's diet allows her to eat all types of protein like fish, chicken and meat. She also has a lot of good fats in the diet as well, like avocado, olive oil, nuts, and selected fruits. What she can't eat is cereal, bread, pasta, and pastry.
Apparently, sleeping early also attributes to her weight loss. McCarthy says that her 7:30 p.m. bed time is the "real secret" to her diet.
