'Mass Effect: Andromeda' release date news 2016: Game not coming to Nintendo Switch; Developers tease amazing lighting, sound
"Mass Effect: Andromeda," the upcoming action role-playing video game from BioWare, will not be made available on the much-hyped Nintendo Switch gaming system.
Since Nintendo unveiled the long-rumored Switch (formerly codenamed NX) last week, eager gamers have wanted to know which of their favorite titles will be playable on the new console. Unfortunately, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" producer Mike Gamble recently confirmed that the highly anticipated third-person shooter video game will not be one of those titles.
In a recent Twitter exchange with a "Mass Effect" fan, Gamble said that "Andromeda" will only be made available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro (formerly known as PS4 Neo), and Xbox One. When asked if BioWare has plans of releasing the game for the Nintendo Switch sometime in the future, Gamble answered, "I can't speak for the future. Just the current plans."
While BioWare is not among the companies listed as officially supporting the Nintendo Switch, Electronic Arts, the "Andromeda" publisher, is.
Meanwhile, work on "Mass Effect: Andromeda," which is expected to be out next year, seems to be going well. Recently, BioWare studio design lead Ian Frazier tweeted about the game's impressive lighting, audio, and user interface, and said that they make a huge difference in gameplay.
"Hot damn. Lighting, audio, and UI polish make SUCH a difference in moment to moment fun. #space" he wrote.
On the same day, BioWare level designer Jos Hendriks, who is also working on "Andromeda" tweeted about some size-related bugs. "Unexpectedly and problematically, there appears to be a whole lot more #space in one of my missions this morning than is intended," he wrote.
"You wouldn't think that there could be such a thing as too much #space, but today proves there is. (it's a bug, naturally)," he added.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" was announced back in 2014, at that year's E3. It will be officially released sometime in the first quarter of 2017.
