BioWare may have mentioned that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will not be the start of a new trilogy, however, it looks like the game may be the first in a new series.

In an interview with Game Informer, creative director Mac Walters advised players to keep their saved games after ending "Mass Effect: Andromeda" because they were not ruling out the possibility of sequels in the future.

"Right now, to be honest, we are focused on this game, and as I've said to people before, we very much think of Andromeda as a series. What we do with that series is TBD at this point. I think right now, we know we don't want it to be a trilogy, in the sense of, we're planning this three-part story in three games. But that said, key elements like the Pathfinders, even the Ryders themselves, those are things that are going to make another appearance in the next game," Walters stated.

During the interview, Walters also revealed that "Mass Effect: Andromeda's" ending was going to be bold and complex, just like the endings in "Mass Effect 1" and "Mass Effect 2." It's no secret that players didn't really like the ending to "Mass Effect 3."

Fans of "Mass Effect" who have invested a lot of time playing the trilogy were disappointed with the ending because all the choices they have made throughout the series did not seem to matter. There was no happy ending, and there wasn't even a final boss battle, which infuriated some players. But BioWare seems to have heard the complaints and they will try to smoothen some ruffled feathers caused by the trilogy's ending.

Walters also said that they have learned a lot from "Dragon Age: Inquisition" ("DA:I"). The game may look great, but fans still say "Dragon Age: Origins" is still the best game in the series while criticizing "DA:I" for having too many side quests that have nothing to do with the main plot. According to Walters, "Mass Effect: Andromeda's" side quest would be more fulfilling than the ones in "DA:I."

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is scheduled to hit the shelves on March 2017.
