'Mass Effect: Andromeda' news, updates: Bioware executive weighs in on a new trilogy possibility
Bioware is still unsure of what comes next after "Mass Effect: Andromeda" as many hope it will mark the beginning of another trilogy. However, it looks like this is on the table for the developer.
Speaking to Game Informer, creative director Mac Walters admitted that the idea of a new trilogy is still up in the air.
"Right now, to be honest, we are focused on this game, and as I've said to people before, we very much think of Andromeda as a series. What we do with that series is TBD at this point," Walters explained.
"I think right now, we know we don't want it to be a trilogy, in the sense of, we're planning this three-part story in three games," he went on to say.
Walters did say that Bioware plans to bring to their next game some important elements that fans will see first in "Mass Effect: Andromeda," including Pathfinders and the protagonists themselves, the Ryders siblings.
Since it is still to be discussed, Walters said that it will not hurt gamers to keep their saves after "Mass Effect: Andromeda" as they may prove useful in the next iteration in the franchise.
Walters emphasized that Bioware is yet to look past "Mass Effect: Andromeda," which is why they have a clear vision of the future plotted out for the franchise just yet.
Meanwhile, he also revealed in the same interview that the planets that players will visit in the game will have their own unique story that ties into the missions they will do in that location. He also said that gamers will also get to meet men and women of the species they will encounter, unlike in the original trilogy in which the only females featured were humans.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is slated to be released on March 2017 although Bioware is yet to make the official announcement.
