'Marvel's Luke Cage' season 1 spoilers, plot news: New Marvel series to feature Harlem; Luke to find new love
Less than a month before the much-awaited release of "Marvel's Luke Cage," details about the show are starting to flood the social media feeds.
According to Screen Rant, executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker has just finished releasing all episode titles for the show's freshman run. The gradual reveal began back in July, with Coker posting one title at a time on his official Twitter account. All thirteen titles are reportedly based on the songs by the legendary hip-hop duo, Gang Starr.
Although the titles do not reveal much of the storyline for each episode, they do serve Coker's purpose of establishing the series' tone through music that's popular in Luke Cage's side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Cheat Sheet reported that "Marvel's Luke Cage" will find its titular character fighting crime and corruption in the Manhattan neighborhood of Harlem. And despite being previously introduced as Jessica Jones' romantic partner in the private detective's own series, Luke is expected to find new love in another detective by the name of Misty Knight (Simone Missick) when his own series kicks off at the end of September.
However, there could also be some development in the partnership between Luke and Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), who was seen in a recent trailer giving Luke encouragement to become a force of good and fight against the evils of Harlem.
Meanwhile, Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will reportedly be introduced in "Luke Cage" before he moves on to star in his own series. Iron Fist will be completing Netflix's lineup for the special miniseries, "The Defenders," featuring the four crime-fighting heroes of New York City: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
There are only a few days left before "Marvel's Luke Cage" finally kicks off and Collider has made a list of the 15 comics that eager fans can leaf through to prepare themselves for Luke's arrival. The list includes the impenetrable hero's first appearance in a 1972 comics titled, "Luke Cage, Hero for Hire."
All thirteen episodes of "Marvel's Luke Cage" will premiere on Sept. 30 on Netflix.
