Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4 spoilers news: 'Doctor Strange' reference expected in upcoming episodes; Ghost Rider origin to be explored
The fourth season of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has already introduced the fiery vigilante, Ghost Rider. In the coming episodes, the viewers will know more about the origin of Ghost Rider's extraordinary abilities. Likewise, Season 4 is also expected to feature a tie-in with the upcoming Marvel feature film, "Doctor Strange," where S.H.I.E.L.D. is tasked to retrieve a book of magic that might be related to the movie's plotline.
According to Yibada, the sixth episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." titled "The Good Samaritan" will tell the story of Ghost Rider, first known to be Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna). The TV series' take on the Ghost Rider is closer to the original Spirit of Vengeance storyline, where the person behind the Ghost Rider persona sold his soul to the devil in order to gain his powers.
Screen Rant reported that the upcoming episode may also feature the infamous devious character from the comics, Mephisto, as he will be the entity that granted Robbie his powers and turned him into the vengeful Ghost Rider. The rumors are rife that Mephisto will be the demon to be introduced in the series, even though the comic book version of the Ghost Rider has other demonic rulers such as Satannish, Belasco and Beezlebub.
Meanwhile, the much-awaited Marvel movie "Doctor Strange" will be released next week, and as seen with the previous films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is expected to have a tie-in with the world of Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). As reported by Slash Film,
S.H.I.E.L.D. will be working to retrieve a powerful book of magic called the Darkhold. The mission will be given to agents Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Daisy Johnson/Quake (Chloe Bennet) to look for this book and prevent other people with their own selfish intention from having the Darkhold.
The Darkhold is said to be in the original "Doctor Strange" comic book, having a very long history dating billions of years ago. It is said to be created by a powerful demonic entity named Chthon, gathering all the powerful dark magic that pose imminent danger to the world. Many people would try to take the Darkhold and use its power for evil, and in the upcoming movie, the main villain Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) is likely to go after the book after stealing several forbidden books from the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).
