Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Fight 2015 Latest News: Leg Cramps Become Issue in Pacquiao's Training
Leg cramps have reportedly become a concern for boxing champion Manny Pacquiao as he continues his training for his May 2 fight against Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao recently missed a morning roadwork session due to the problem.
"Manny won't run today," coach Justin Fortune said Saturday. "It is not the end of the world, but we do it for a reason."
Last week, Freddie Roach told Yahoo Sports that they bought a $1,800 anti-inflammatory cream for Pacquiao's legs which was approved by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
"There's no magic cure for it," Roach said. "We're doing what we can do. I've got the doctors working on it. There are some Filipino guys here who are massaging it for him. The cream cost $1,800 for a single bottle. I wasn't too happy about that."
Fortune is keeping Pacquiao in shape by not only training him in drills and exercises but also analyzing his mind, according to the USA Today.
"I would like him to get up and move around at least, get out the stiffness from the work we have been doing," Fortune told USA Today Sports. "He is not going to run, but we will make up for it with the work we do later."
He said if Pacquiao does not do it, "there are always consequences."
Mayweather earlier rejected Pacquiao's request for a $5 million penalty if any of them fails a drug test before or after the MGM Grand fight.
Pacquiao recently bought a 10,000 square-foot $12.5 million mansion in Beverly Hills, in which he closed the deal by offering four tickets to his Las Vegas fight to the seller.
He was recently named as the top taxpayer in the Philippines when he paid 163.84 million pesos (about $10.75 million) in 2013, according to the Philippines' Bureau of Internal Revenue.
