'Major Crimes' season 5 spoilers: Buzz makes headway in investigation of father's death?
After exploring the world of family law in episode 9 of "Major Crimes" season 5, this Monday's episode will see Buzz making headway on his personal investigation of his father's murder.
To recap, last Monday's episode, titled "Family Law," had the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) investigating the murder of a jogger who was found dead on the steps of the Greek Theater. The case likewise involved a female college student, Bree, who was earning money on the side as a prostitute.
The victim, identified to be Bobby Crushing, was actually Bree's client. He also happens to be the father of Bree's friend, Megan.
The police initially thought Bree's boyfriend killed Bobby out of jealousy. However, Bree was insistent that her boyfriend wasn't jealous, saying she wasn't in a relationship with Bobby and "it was transactional."
Much later, it was discovered that Bree's father was actually in the hotel where Bree and Bobby had their last tryst before the latter was murdered. It turns out Bree's father was the murderer, but the episode failed to shed light on why he had to do it or what Bree's relationship with her father was like.
The sub-plot of the episode was Buzz's (Phillip P. Keene) investigation of the death of his father. It looks like he made headway in his investigation, which is going to be at the forefront of next week's episode, titled "Dead Zone." The synopsis shared by TV Guide appears below.
"A murder investigation has a personal impact on Sanchez and also leads to a much larger criminal operation. In addition, Buzz faces a person who may have been present at his father's murder."
It looks Monday's episode will find Buzz coming face-to-face with someone who could have been present at the time of his father's death. If so, then Buzz could be making significant progress with the investigation.
He's already put in too much time and effort into figuring out who killed his dad, so it would be a welcome relief if he gets the closure he needs before the show goes on break. If there is anyone else capable of providing him the information he needs, it will be that person.
Meanwhile, the MCU will be investigating a murder that will have a personal impact on Sanchez (Raymond Cruz). However, that same murder will bring the team in the throes of a larger criminal operation.
"Major Crimes" season 5 episode 10, titled "Dead Zone," is airing Monday, Aug. 29 at 10 p.m. on TNT.
