MacBook Pro 2016 release date, news, rumors: New Mac Pro to be unveiled next month, may not use Intel's Kaby Lake processor
Last Sept. 7, Apple has officially unveiled the new iPhone 7 smartphone and the full and final version of iOS 10. Many tech enthusiasts who tuned it to the huge press event last week were expecting that Apple will mention the next iteration of the MacBook Pro. To note, the MacBook Pro line has not yet been updated since 2013, and it is probably high time for the company to refresh the Apple laptop.
Fortunately, even after the Sept. 7 Apple Event, there is still hope that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be announced soon. In fact, the public may not have to wait any longer as the Cupertino-based tech giant is rumored to hold another press event this October, according to Macworld UK. This time around, the October Apple Event is said to focus on the company's laptop models, particularly the MacBook Pro.
In spite of these speculations, there is a likelihood that the MacBook Pro 2016 will not be released in the near future, and that is because of the planned core specifications of the device. According to the rumors, one of the main features of the new MacBook Pro is the Intel Kaby Lake processor. The Kaby Lake is the sixth generation of chipset from Intel, and it is even more powerful than the present Skylake processor. However, Intel has yet to finish the shipment of all Kaby Lake processors, thus posing the possibility that the launching of 2016 MacBook Pro will be delayed. At this rate, the next MacBook Pro might be released next year instead.
Perhaps the good news for now is that the next iteration of the Mac Pro will be appearing sooner than thought, although it may come at the expense of the supposedly more efficient Kaby Lake processor. The MacBook Pro might stick to the current Skylake chipset, as the latest version of the laptop will be unveiled next month.
As for the other specs of the 2016 MacBook Pro, BGR reported that the upcoming laptop model will be lighter and slimmer in appearance compared to the previous ones released by Apple. In fact, the next MacBook Pro may be the thinnest one yet from the company. Also, instead of function keys in the keyboard, the new Mac Pro will be featuring an OLED Touch bar as a replacement. The OLED functions will let the users skim through the applications quickly and more efficiently.
According to Bloomberg, the MacBook Pro 2016 may also feature USB Type-C ports, powered by Thunderbolt 3 function. With this, data transfers and charging through the USB port will become faster.
