It is almost certain as of today that the public will be witnessing another huge hardware event from Apple to unveil latest iterations of the MacBook laptops. There have been rumors since last year that the current MacBook Pro model will be revamped. However, rumors about the new look of the MacBook Air seem to be lacking.

Aside from the 2016 version of the MacBook Pro, there are rumors about the new Retina MacBook coming out later this year. It appears that the MacBook Air series is getting left out with the rumored MacBook refresh this year, but some tech enthusiasts are still hopeful that the Mac Air will get a major update before all is said and done. After all, recent reports still sound like the MacBook Air 2016 might be squeezed in at the October Apple Event.

According to a report from Digi Times Research, the scheduled Apple Event on October 27 will showcase at least three new MacBook products. These products are said to be the 13-inch and 15-inch size variants of the MacBook Pro 2016, while the third one might just be the new Mac Air. However, the MacBook Air 2016 will be only available in 13-inch size, and it does not seem likely at this point that Apple will be producing the smaller 11-inch Mac Air in the near future.

To note, the present MacBook Air received an update earlier this year, but it was very minor that it only focused on adding an optional RAM upgrade in the 13-inch Mac Air standard package. This month, the public will see the new 13-inch MacBook Air laptops, thinner and lighter as ever, according to MacWorld UK

Moreover, the new Mac Air will boast new USB Type-C ports, plus an integrated Intel Thunderbolt 3 for faster data transfer. Tech enthusiasts are also waiting to confirm if the MacBook Air 2016 will boast the next generation of Intel processor, the Kaby Lake.

As for its design, the Mac Air 2016 will feature the new OLED touch bar on top of the keyboard area for faster and more efficient switching of applications. It is rumored that Sonder Design's keyboard technology will make this feature possible on the MacBook Air 2016, 9to5Mac reported.
