Los Angeles Clippers trade rumors update: Doc Rivers deflects Griffin trade talks
This summer, the Los Angeles Clippers have continually tried to deflect any and all rumors saying that Blake Griffin is on his way out of the team.
However, these have not ended and some report that Griffin may be heading over to another Western Conference team as the Oklahoma City Thunder are looking for another superstar to pair up with Russell Westbrook.
The Vertical Podcast got Clippers head coach Doc Rivers on their show where he gave some light on the situation involving Griffin and a move away.
When asked about the rumors about the power forward, Rivers was quoted as saying: "It's funny, you don't want to go out and send out a press release every time there's a rumor about Blake. We're hoping Blake ends his career playing for the Clippers. Period. So when teams call, we say we have no interest.
"No team is calling right now because teams know we don't have any interest."
It does appear that Rivers is pretty confident that Griffin is going to stay, and he goes even further to tell everyone that he hopes that Griffin is staying his entire career.
However, the more intriguing part is that, despite all the rumors linking Griffin to a move away, Rivers revealed that there have been no inquiries about a possible swoop for their man.
Rivers also commented that he believes that the Clippers can keep both Griffin and star point guard Chris Paul in the lineup as he believes that Steve Ballmer, the owner of the Clippers, can do something about it to retain the core of the squad.
The Clippers head coach commented: "It would be interesting if Steve Ballmer wasn't the owner, I don't know how confident I would be. With Steve, I'm extremely confident that we can keep both. You know, listen, winning is the key."
It is going to be extremely interesting how things unfold this summer. With all the names linked with a move away from the Clippers, the franchise has a lot in their hands.
