'Longmire' season 5 spoilers, updates: Henry and Mathias shake hands on deal as Walt weds Vic?

American crime drama "Longmire" will be back to the small screens for its fifth season in less than a month. Based on the latest spoilers for the TV adaptation of Craig Johnson's novels, it looks like season 5 will feature the end of a friendship and a love triangle.

In a recent Instagram post, Katee Sackhoff, who plays Vic in the series, shared a promotional photo showing her character and Walt (Robert Taylor) in their police uniforms. However, the photo was giving off a strong romantic vibe, leading some to believe that "Longmire" season 5 will finally focus its attention on the blossoming romance between the comrades.

If the upcoming installment will follow the plotline of the book series, then fans could indeed expect the fifth installment to put a label to Walt and Vic's relationship. It remains to be seen, though, how the Walt and Donna (Ally Walker) angle will end, as season 4 showed the two having an affair. If Walt is bent on pursuing Vic, then he will have to sort things out with Donna first.

Back in June, the show's director, T.J. Scott, teased a picture of the episode 7 script, which was titled "From This Day Forward." That only served to fortify rumors that Walt and Vic will finally marry. However, there are rumors that things will not end well for the two, no thanks to Walt's friend Henry (Lou Diamond Phillips).

According to speculations, Henry has feelings for Vic and he will not take the news of the wedding kindly. Apparently, a car accident involving Walt and Vic will happen through Henry's ministrations in order to prevent the couple from getting their happy ever after.

Just recently, Phillips share details about a rift that will arise between his character, Henry, and Walt.

"The last we saw, Henry was being carted off to jail by Zahn McClarnon, who plays Mathias. In that scene, you will see what happens—if they cut a deal. Henry will be continuing his dual role as Hector, the sort-of vigilante, justice-bringer to the reservation, which will put him on a collision course with Walt Longmire, his best friend," the actor told Access Hollywood Live.

"Longmire" season 5 will be released on Sept. 23 on Netflix.
