'Logan' release date and news: New image showcases an old and battered Wolverine
The release of the first trailer for the third solo Wolverine movie "Logan" was received positively by the fans, and director James Mangold is still sharing online images from the set. His most recent image has Logan (Hugh Jackman) looking into a mirror. His body is all beaten up and full of scars.
The image was posted on Mangold's Twitter account, and the caption has Mangold dictating the camera and settings that he used. Wolverine has been known to have the best healing ability out of the mutants in the "X-men" universe. But now, whenever he gets injured, he heals but a scar is left behind.
In an interview with Empire, Mangold said that, "We imagined he heals quickly, still, but it leaves a scar... The simple idea was that his body would start to get a little more ravaged with a kind of tattooing of past battles, lacerations that remain of previous conflicts."
In the comic "Old Man Logan," Wolverine's healing factor was still in tact, but the mutant has taken a vow of pacifism, forcing himself never to take out his claws. In the movie, it looks like Logan will be in hiding, as one of the main driving forces of the story looks to be the disappearance of mutants.
The mutants in "Old Man Logan" turned out to be an anthropological blip in history. Though mutants still existed, no new mutants had been born for a very long time. Aside from that, the supervillains have taken over America, and the Red Skull sits in the White House.
Though FOX won't be able to deliver a true adaptation of "Old Man Logan" since the story involves many characters that belong to Marvel Studios, fans are still eager to see Hugh Jackman's last outing as Wolverine.
"Logan" comes out on March 3,2017.
