LG Watch Urbane vs Apple Watch Design, Display, Price Comparison: Premium Devices Could Become Fierce Rivals

The LG Watch Urbane is a stunning device from a company that has been churning out smartwatches over the past few years. It has been described as an "Apple Watch killer." Here's how they two devices compare.

Design

It is clear that Apple has invested a lot in the design of its rectangular smartwatch, which has two versions: a smaller 38mm and a bigger 42mm body both made from either steel, aluminum or gold, which means women could easily wear it. As for straps, the Apple Watch bands cannot be swapped out with any other standard 22mm strap, but the company has a variety of options which users can choose from. These include bands made from colored Fluoroelastomer, Milanese Loop bands crafted from stainless steel, and a number of leather options.

Coming to the LG Watch Urbane, the latter has a round body made from stainless steel with either gold or silver polish. As for its straps, it comes with a default leather version but this can be swapped out with any standard 22mm strap. Comparing the two devices' water and dust resistant qualities, the Apple Watch and the LG Watch Urbane have a similar IP67 rating, which means they will be able to survive under one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

Display

The Apple Watch has a retina display with sapphire crystal. It has a 1.5-inch screen on its smaller version and a 1.65-inch screen on its bigger version. As for the LG Watch Urbane, it has a P-OLED display measuring 1.3 inches with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and a density of 245 pixels per inch.

Specs

Not much is known yet about the specs of the Apple Watch, but it is known that the device will have Apple's custom-made S1 chip. As for the LG Watch Urbane, it has a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, along with 4GB internal storage and 512MB RAM.

Sensors

The Apple Watch does not have a GPS, but it can track the user's movement when it is paired with an iPhone. It also has an accelerometer and heart rate sensor. As for the LG Watch Urbane, it has a nine-axis gyroscope, accelerometer and compass along with a barometer and heart rate sensor.
