LG G6 news, release date, specs: major design changes hinted in new leak
More and more purported renders of the LG G6 find their way online. A new batch of images showing the design of the LG G5 successor has emerged from OnLeaks.
Looking at the images, it would seem that the company will preserve much of the LG G5's design, despite the underwhelming response to the current-generation device.
The leaks suggest that the LG G6 will come with a dual-camera setup with a fingerprint sensor mounted just below it. A USB-C charging port is also present.
Those who have been worrying about LG ditching the headphone jack like what Apple did with its latest iPhone and what Samsung is reportedly planning can now breathe as the 3.5mm audio jack is not going anywhere.
What's leaving the LG G6 is the modular aspect that the company just introduced and hoped to be a hit in its current wave of smartphones.
The Friends module, however, did not fare as well as LG have hoped. That being said, it appears that LG found no reason to add them in the LG G6.
Other details courtesy of My Smart Price include a 5.3-inch quad high-definition (QHD) display, which is a feature it will inherit from the LG G5. The change comes with it being flat instead of contoured like the one on its predecessor.
More on the design, the back of the LG G6 will reportedly have "highly reflective metallic material" with a glossy finish to be up for grabs, too.
Other design takeaways from the renders show that the battery will no longer be removable and that it will be charged wirelessly.
Prior to the emergence of the 3D renders from OnLeaks, the LG G6 also starred in renders by Shai Mizrachi, who has provided accurate information in the past involving LG and Samsung releases.
Like the ones from OnLeaks, the ones from Mizrachi show that the LG G6 will don the same LG G5 design, but will be much thinner at 72.43mm.
