'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 spoilers: On Rip Hunter, Constantine, and the Spear of Destiny
The Legion of Doom's quest for the Spear of Destiny may just bring the Legends in the path of their former captain, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill).
"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 episode 9 will reportedly deal with a stolen painting with Eobard Thawne, aka Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher) as the Legends' prime suspect. Titled "Raiders of the Lost Art," the episode will also feature Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) coming face to face with the Waverider's former captain, Rip, who was last seen directing a movie about himself in the show's midseason finale.
CarterMatt made note of the improvements in the show since its first season, citing the gradual build up that eventually brought the Legion of Doom together as something that felt more natural, and thus made every succeeding episode something to look forward to, if only to find out what the Legion's end game is. The fact that the Legends' current leader, Sara, has a personal issue with one of the bad guys, Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) for killing her sister Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), added a deeper level of conflict and drama that will surely continue to resonate throughout the rest of the season.
But can the Legends catch on to the Legion's plans of world domination on top of dealing with the mysteries behind the existence of Hollywood Rip? Will they be caught in such a tight pinch that forces them to seek help from outside forces?
An article on Inverse presented a pretty good argument on how "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" can possibly bring Matt Ryan's John Constatine on board. After his brief appearance on "Arrow" following NBC's cancellation of "Constantine," fans have been wondering when the character will return to the Arrow-verse, if not possibly be rebooted for a second season on The CW.
Being a known expert on relics and mysticism, Constantine will be able to lend the Legends a helping hand in their quest to stop the Legion of Doom from acquiring the Spear of Destiny, which is believed to possess the power of altering reality based on its owner's will.
However, Constantine's involvement is just mere speculation, and neither the network nor the actor, Ryan, himself has released any statement regarding this matter.
"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" returns in 2017 on a brand-new timeslot: Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
