'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' release date and rumors: launch not happening alongside Nintendo Switch in 2017
The announcement of Nintendo's upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch, was matched with footage from different games like "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and more notably, the much awaited "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." Rumor has it that the game will not be coming out together with the Nintendo Switch, and fans will have to wait longer before they can get their hands on it.
According to notable Nintendo tipster Emily Rogers, the delay has been caused by the developers who wrongly anticipated the time they needed to localize the game. Rogers writes, "More sources have now come forward and corroborated my information. They've told me that localization for 'Breath of the Wild' might not be finished until the end of December. After localization is completed, this game will require between (at least) four-to-six months of testing. As I mentioned earlier, this is one of Nintendo's largest and most ambitious games ever. The amount of testing required for a huge open-world game like this is enormous. Nintendo's intention is to have the game as bug free as possible."
Geek Tyrant speculates that since the Switch is expected to arrive in March 2017, the game may most likely be ready by April. The worst case scenario would have "Breath of the Wild" released after the Electronic Entertainment Expo which takes place before June.
The same site also says that the delay for the game may cause a big blow for the sales of the Nintendo Switch since "Breath of the Wild" was supposed to be their first party title.
Fans, however, remain positive that the game's delay is because of assuring quality control. At the age of constant patches and DLCs, a good completed game has become a sort of rarity to modern-day gamers.
"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is set to come out sometime next year.
