'Law & Order: SVU' season 18 episode 8 spoilers: Benson rethinks her life as she deals with latest case
The next case the Special Victims Unit (SVU) will deal with will hit home for Benson (Mariska Hargitay) in "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" season 18.
The episode, "Chasing Theo," will be about the disappearance of a son in the midst of a drug-fuelled party his own mother threw at their home.
She made sure that her son would not hear the noise she and the visitors will make, as seen in the "Law & Order: SVU" season 18, episode 8 promo.
After the celebration dies down, the mother learns her son is no longer there. With her state during the party, it is unlikely she will be able to provide the most helpful information.
There were tons of guests in the house and everyone could be a suspect. The "Law & Order: SVU" season 18, episode 8 promo teases that while it could be an abduction, the case also plays with the neglect of the mother.
This leads Benson to question her own abilities as a mother to her own son. She could be thinking about how her job, which means putting herself in danger every single day, could affect the life of her son. It will be interesting to see how this will affect her investigation on the matter.
This is not the only time that Benson will do some deep reflecting with her life. In the previous episode, she learned that her boyfriend, Tucker (Robert John Burke), is thinking about retiring.
"Law & Order: SVU" season 18, episode 8 looks to be another look at her life outside her work, leading some to believe that Hargitay is leaving the series.
The actress, however, has said last year that she is "so committed" to the show and is "grateful to be an actor and doing every single day what I love to do" so it looks like she will be around for a while.
"Law & Order: SVU" season 18, episode 8, "Chasing Theo," airs Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
