Some fans are waiting for the release of Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us 2," a movie adaptation of the hit video game is said to be in the works, but by the looks of it, the project has gone the way of several other video game movies, as it now sits in development hell. Sam Raimi, who is attached to work on it as a producer, gives an update on the movie.

During a press event for the DVD release of "Don't Breathe," Raimi talked about the adaptation of the hit Playstation 3 game. He says, "When we went to Neil [Druckmann] with Ghost House Pictures we were hoping to get the rights like we do any project and then we'd take it out and sell it but we'd control the rights. With this one, he went to Sony – who I have a very good relationship with – but they have their own plans for it and I think Neil's plan for it – I'm not trying to be political – Neil's plan for it is not the same as Sony's. And because my company doesn't have the rights, I actually can't help him too much."

He then goes on to say that the decision will be left between Druckmann and Sony, but Raimi is still positive that if the production was to move forward, he would "love" to get in on the project again.

IGN has also asked Raimi about the project, and Raimi says that there may be a disagreement between Druckmann and Sony that is keeping the project in a standstill. Raimi also goes on to add that he has no power to move the project forward himself and that the "Last of Us" movie is just "sitting there."

As of now, the "Last of Us" movie is currently in development hell, but fans are still hopeful that the movie may find itself starting production over time.

No official release has been announced for the "Last of Us" movie.
