'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date, update: 'Final Fantasy 15' reference to upcoming game found
With "Final Fantasy XV" out of the way, many fans believe that Square Enix will now focus on another one of its most awaited, decade-in-the-making title, "Kingdom Hearts III."
Fans appear to be one in expecting that with Noctis and the gang's latest adventure now out in the open, the focus will now be solely on that of Sora.
Just like "Final Fantasy XV," "Kingdom Hearts III" has been making fans wait for 10 years now. During these years, Square Enix has been releasing spinoffs and compilations that do little to develop the base story.
Not much about "Kingdom Hearts III" has been revealed by Square Enix as the developer deliberately shifted the focus from the game to "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue."
If there is one thing that the studio would like for fans to focus on for now as far as the franchise is concerned, it is the said compilation game.
Just recently, however, Reddit fans appeared to have found reference to "Kingdom Hearts III" in "Final Fantasy XV," where Prompto says, "Or a magical key that can unlock any door— like from the video games."
This had many hoping that "Final Fantasy XV" protagonist, Noctis, will make a cameo appearance in "Kingdom Hearts III" while others speculate that he could end up being the boss in the Underworld in the Coliseum World.
It looks like timing is everything for Square Enix, with game director Tai Yasue pointing out back in July that they will talk about "Kingdom Hearts III" in due course.
"Like I said about not showing much of Kingdom Hearts III at this time, there's always a right time for everything," he told Games Beat, adding that the focus is on "Kingdom Hearts 2.8."
"We want each announcement to be special. We want to exceed our fans' expectations and we want to do it in a good way. We want to plan things out, the way we announce things. It's not that stressful, at least for me," he went on to say.
What fans can count on is that "Kingdom Hearts III" will be released right after "Kingdom Hearts 2.8," which hits the shelves Jan. 12 next year.
"Kingdom Hearts III" is rumored to be released by March 2017 although this remains unconfirmed.
