Kickass Torrents, torrent sites shutdown news & rumors 2016: KAT still down, resurrection attempts thwarted
Kickass Torrents was taken down several months ago after its alleged owner Artem Vaulin was arrested. However, there is a new report suggesting that KAT has been resurrected.
There is no information to corroborate this though as it appears that media outlets are pertaining to a mirror site of Kickass Torrents.
The same operators of the original KAT site were reportedly working on this mirror site known as KAT.how although its authenticity and user security is yet to be fully confirmed.
There have been several attempts to bring Kickass Torrents back to life may it be the original or a clone good enough to give that KAT experience file-sharers have enjoyed.
However, the authorities have thwarted any plans of resurrections of the Kickass Torrents. At one point late July, when the shutdown of the site was still fresh, the admin of the original site came together to pledge to continue the legacy of Kickass Torrents.
One staff member by the name Mr. Black spoke to TorrentFreak saying "We need to remember that Kickass Torrents is not simply about uploading, the heart and soul of KAT is our members, which are family and family is important as we all know."
"Nothing can ever take that away and no matter what happens we will not let our community down. We guarantee that KAT will continue in one form or another and we will come back stronger than ever," they added.
However, the mirror site they put up—Katcr.co—was ultimately seized, but not after it was hacked by individuals who used it to scam users.
The future of Kickass Torrents is looking bleak for now. Torrent fans can get their fix on The Pirate Bay, which stood the test of time and the many attempts of copyright holders. It is one of the original torrent sites that still stays afloat.
