'John Wick 2' release date news: Assassins guild goes after Wick in official movie trailer

The official trailer for the upcoming movie sequel "John Wick: Chapter 2" has finally been released, and everybody seems to be after the titular character. Will the legendary assassin, John Wick (Keanu Reeves), meet his match this time around?

The movie sequel takes the narrative to Rome, Italy, where Wick is forced to contend with an international assassins guild as a favor to an old associate, who wants nothing more than to seize control of an army of the world's deadliest killers.

The man, the myth, the legend is once again forced out of retirement and tossed right into the middle of a gun fight where every firearm is aimed right at him. How does he hope to survive the deadly mob that's going to come for him from all sorts of sneaky angles? The trailer shows that like always, Wick has a fighting chance, and fans will surely enjoy those high-octane scenes of Wick caught in the middle of crowded places, where every innocent-looking bystander could be after his life.

Wick's return brings along some familiar faces and a few fresh ones that he may or may not trust. The upcoming movie sequel will also be reuniting him with former co-stars, Peter Stormare and Laurence Fishburne, with whom he had previously worked in two separate movies: "Constantine" and "The Matrix" respectively. As to what part they are going to play in "John Wick: Chapter 2" remains a mystery.

In an earlier interview with Collider, director Chad Stahelski revealed that a third "John Wick" movie was already in the works, and that Ian McShane's and Lance Reddick's characters will be playing much bigger parts in it. Does this mean that at least three characters, Wick included, will survive the second installment's chaos? Will Wick's dog make it out alive, too?

Fans will find out when "John Wick: Chapter 2" hits the theaters next year on Feb. 10.
