'Jessica Jones' season 2 spoilers: EP talks Kilgrave-type villains, Hellcat's emergence
"Jessica Jones" season 2 may still be almost a couple of years away, but executive producer Melissa Rosenberg already has some big plans set up for the Netflix hit.
For starters, the EP revealed to IGN that she plans to work with "Defenders" showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez and figure out with them what's best to do with the character.
In return, Rosenberg also helps the duo with regards of their portrayal of Jessica Jones in the miniseries to make sure that it is in line with how she is depicted in her original show.
"Defenders" also provides the opportunity for seeing characters evolve such as Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), who is rumored to be part of the miniseries.
It could be through there that she transforms into the iconic character Hellcat, a moment fans have been waiting for. By the time "Jessica Jones" season 2 comes out, she is already a full-fledged superhero.
However, Rosenberg said that the focus is currently on the friendship that Trish shares with Jessica. "That's the core of the show. That's the core relationship of the show," she said.
The executive producer has always been very particular with other characters featured on the show, and in "Jessica Jones" season 2, Rosenberg has big plans.
Those who were hoping to see a Kilgrave (David Tennant)-style villain won't get one in "Jessica Jones" season 2. Rosenberg is very demand to "never create that again."
"That is one of the great iconic characters played by a profoundly talented actor. The objective is not to match that, not to try to do that again," she explained.
Rosenberg has said multiple times that "Jessica Jones" season 2 will put the spotlight on other characters, especially new ones who "relate to our existing characters."
"We can really get into some very interesting aspects of their characters and where they're from, where they're going, all these things. I'm super excited about that," she said.
Because of this, "Jessica Jones" season 2 might divert a bit from "Alias," the beloved comic book story where the first season of the series was heavily based.
"Jessica Jones" season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2018. Rosenberg is already working on the script.
