Jeremy Lin news: Kevin McHale talks about Lin's current growth
Jeremy Lin's previous head coach Kevin McHale has known him longer than any coach in the NBA even if the two have worked together for only two years during Lin's stay at Houston. The former coach recently talked about how his former player has grown and progressed.
In an interview with the New York Post, McHale complimented Lin's growth. "He has high effort. He's going to make mistakes, but they're going to be mistakes of effort,'' McHale told The Post. "You'll never have to encourage him go full-blast, maybe to go a little slower. He's very aggressive, that hasn't changed. That was the way he was in Houston. I think you'll see the same thing with the Nets," he added.
McHale coached Lin in the Rockets right after they took him from the New York Knicks back in 2012. The former coach is now a TNT analyst.
"He plays very close to the reckless side. That's what makes him a good player. He still plays hard. I don't think a lot will change. But he's a better player than when I saw him, and he's become content being Jeremy Lin, not Jeremy Linsanity," McHale added.
Lin is now playing for the Brooklyn Nets. He signed a three-year contract with them worth $36 million. According to reports, Lin initially met with the Nets and the New Orleans Pelicans but he eventually decided to play for the Nets, as he thought that it was the best place for him to grow.
He also wanted to see himself grow in an organization as big as the Nets. Also, the Pelicans weren't willing to provide him with the contract he received from his current team. The Rockets reportedly showed interest in the basketball player but negotiations never ensued.
