'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers news: Production begins for 3rd installment; Gina Rodriguez confirms Jane would lose 'it'
"Jane the Virgin" would soon have to strike out the last word in the title when it comes back on for its third season. Gina Rodriguez, who plays the titular character, Jane, just confirmed what fans have been anticipating since the end of the previous season.
The early part of the series saw Jane getting pregnant and subsequently giving birth, and although she has a boyfriend, they have never done the deed at all. Jane got pregnant because of an accidental insemination procedure. However, it looks like things would finally change for Jane who, at the end of season 2, tied the knot with Michael (Brett Dier).
Jennie Snyder Urman, "Jane the Virgin's" showrunner, has previously told Entertainment Tonight that Jane would finally have sex in the third installment. Urman made it clear that the series doesn't necessarily revolve around Jane's preservation of her virginity. She would lose it eventually. However, she emphasized that it could happen somewhere in the middle of the third season.
Although Jane got married to Michael in the season 2 finale, the two weren't able to consummate their marriage, as someone disguising as his cop partner shot Michael. There hasn't been any news concerning Michael's fate, which pretty much is still hanging in the balance. Fans don't even know the extent of his injury.
However, in an interview with Wetpaint, Rodriguez assured the series' loyal viewers that her TV husband would still be part of "Jane the Virgin" season 3. It remains to be seen in which capacity Michael would appear on the show. She also confirmed that Jane would finally lose "it," but she didn't say to whom.
"I think it's safe to say, if Jennie says it, it's probably true," the actress said.
Rodriguez likewise shared that the third run of the series would start filming second week of August.
"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. on The CW.
