'Jane the Virgin' season 3 air date, spoilers news: Michael finds it hard to trust again? Meet Jane's extended family
The path to marriage has not been easy for "Jane the Virgin" couple Michael Cordero and Jane Villanueva, and it looks like the road beyond their "I dos" will not be an easy one, too. At least, that's what the premise for "Jane the Virgin" season 3 seems to be.
Season 2 ended with Michael (Brett Dier) getting shot by someone he thought he could trust, on his wedding night no less. He and Jane (Gina Rodriguez) failed to consummate their marriage, as his grieving wife had to rush him to the hospital instead.
In a recently released clip for the season 3 premiere, it's obvious that Michael's condition looks serious. Moreover, the nurse in charge of him cannot give Jane the guarantee that he will live through the ordeal. Check out the clip below:
Jane and Michael's love story wasn't all roses. After Jane got pregnant through insemination and the baby daddy Rafael (Justin Baldoni) entered the picture, Michael tried to stay away from Jane. Thinking she was in love with Rafael, Michael thought it best to leave her, although it hurt him to do so.
However, when Jane and Michael met again, she realized it was Michael she was in love with, prompting her to accept his proposal. They got past the "I dos," as mentioned in the get-go, but fate had other plans for them.
There's a chance Michael will bear the scars of what happened to him, so much so that he will have a hard time trusting again. Will Michael's trust issues come into play when Jane's old crush, who has been teased will be part of "Jane the Virgin" season 3, enters the scene?
Meanwhile, showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman has confirmed that Jane will definitely lose her V-card in the upcoming installment. She said that it will happen not too early nor far into the third season, but the question is, who will Jane lose her virginity to?
In related news, Urman told Entertainment Weekly that Jane's extended family will be introduced in season 3. These family members will come from Jane's grandmother Alba's (Ivonne Col) line.
"You're going to be meeting people from Alba's family in Venezuela," Urman said. "I think that will [bring] interesting characters into our world."
There's a chance the interesting characters will provide the comic relief necessary to offset the grim reality of Michael's condition.
"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
