'Jane the Virgin' season 3 episode 5 spoilers: Michael, Rafael go on a man date; Jane to seek estranged sister?
Two of the men in Jane's (Gina Rodriguez) life are about to attempt to forge a civil though mostly awkward friendship in next week's episode of The CW's romantic-comedy series, "Jane the Virgin."
The episode preview for "Chapter Forty-Nine" shows Jane's husband Michael (Brett Dier) and her baby daddy Rafael (Justin Baldoni) hanging out together at the gym. Michael wants to get back in shape in order to pass his physical exam for work and Rafael generously offers the services of the gym at The Marbella.
What looks to be a perfect opportunity to forge something akin to friendship quickly goes south when Michael tries too hard to start a conversation with Rafael, who eventually professes to not being a big talker just to shut Michael up. Even their parting high-five doesn't seem so promising. How will the two of them work through the awkwardness as the episode progresses, especially since the official synopsis also hints at Jane and Rogelio (Jaime Camil) getting involved in the boys' attempt to be friends?
One other issue that the upcoming episode tackles is Jane's relationship with her sister. She tries to convince her grandmother Alba (Ivonne Coll) to let her read her estranged sister's letters on the condition that she does not go out of her way to contact her sister's family. Will Jane agree to this condition, and if she does, will she be able to stay true to her word after reading her sister's letters?
After this week's episode ended with Jane suspecting that the Petra (Yael Grobglas) she encountered at the hallway on her way to Rafael's place was not the real Petra, Rafael also starts to see questionable inconsistencies in his ex-wife's personality. Could these suspicions eventually lead to the real Petra's release? How will Jane and crew deal with the possible fallouts of this revelation?
"Jane the Virgin" season 3 episode 5 airs on Monday, Nov. 14 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
