Since Apple just released the latest iPhone, the next installment in the series could be unveiled in a few more months. There have been various reports about the upcoming unit and recent leaks suggest that Apple could be adding a newly approved foldable/bendable patent to the iPhone 8.

A page from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) revealed that the tech giant has recently been granted a patent for a foldable iPhone. The patent number 9485862 showed that Apple filed for a clamshell designed device, which has a carbon nanotube for its base.

Aside from being a foldable smartphone, the details listed in the patent suggest that the iPhone will be capable of bending. "Conductive carbon nanotube paths can form signal paths that are flexible and resistant to cracking," the patent revealed.

Apple junkies expect the tech giant to unveil significant upgrades for the iPhone series in time for the 10th anniversary of the smartphone line next year. Recent rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 could introduce wireless charging. Although the feature hasn't been officially confirmed by the tech giant, it seems like many Apple junkies are expecting the smartphone to have this feature.

Since Apple removed the 3.5-millimeter audio jack in the iPhone 7, tech enthusiasts believe the next installment will also feature the latest change in design. Apple is also expected to launch the smartphone in three storage size variants: a 32 GB, 128 GB and a 256 GB version. In addition, the iPhone 8 will reportedly have a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front cam.

Apple has yet to confirm the latest allegations so tech junkies must treat the latest reports as speculation until proven otherwise. Watch out for more updates on the Apple iPhone 8.
