iPhone 8 release date, specs rumors: Upcoming flagship codenamed Ferrari leaked, to arrive alongside iPhone 7s and 7s Plus?
Details for the iPhone 8 have seemingly been revealed. According to the latest reports, the upcoming flagship device is in development with the codename Ferrari and could be one of three models released in 2017.
Earlier this week, a Weibo user leaked two manufacturing documents for the iPhone 8 said to have come from Apple's supply chain in East Asia. According to Forbes, the person who provided the information has a history of leaking accurate information about Apple and its devices.
According to the documents, Apple is planning to release three iPhones next year. The models are codenamed D20, D21 and D22. It was revealed that the recently released iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were previously codenamed D10 and D20. This information matches previous reports which speculated that the iPhone 8 will be launching alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. The iPhone 8, or Ferrari in the documents, is expected to be the top-tier model and may feature a curved OLED display. The leak also revealed that it will feature an edge-to-edge screen, wireless charging and an invisible home button.
Aside from the improvements in the iPhone 8's display, its form factor is said to remain unchanged. Thus, it will still look like Apple's previous smartphones. However, when it comes to the internal design, the tech giant is reportedly giving the upcoming device a substantial redesign. The logic board will supposedly be separated into two units and will be connected by a flex cable. One will carry the iPhone 8's processor and built-in storage while the other will have components like Wi-Fi and the cellular parts.
Many are expecting the iPhone 8 to be a truly spectacular device when it is unveiled because its release will coincide with the smartphone's 10th anniversary. While Apple is also rumored to introduce the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, the two devices are expected to only have modest upgrades.
The Apple iPhone 8 is expected to arrive in September 2017.
