iPhone 7 Release Date, Specs News: Apple Launching New Models - iPhone 7, 6S, 6S Plus and 6C Rumors Mount

Apple will reportedly release three new iPhone models this year. Citing industry sources, a report from Taiwan's DigiTimes said Apple will introduce in the second half of the year the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and a four-inch device which may be called iPhone 6C.

"All of the handsets will come equipped with LTPS panels and supply for the iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6C will come from Japan Display, Sharp and LG Display while that for the iPhone 6S will come from Japan Display and LG," the report stated.

The devices will have a Corning Gorilla Glass. The iPhone 6S will use A9 chips while the iPhone 6C will have A8 chips. All three devices will have NFC and finger-print scanning features.

The Wistron company is expected to manufacture the iPhone 6C while the 6S series will be assembled by Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Pegatron, the report added.

As for a possible iPhone 7, people are already guessing what will be its main features. According to Macworld, iPhone 7 could have a 3D display and an improved camera. Citing the Daring Fireball site, the report said the iPhone 7's camera will have a two-lens system to allow users to capture DSLR-quality photos.

As to the phone's processor, the report said Samsung will supply Apple's A9 processor for its next-generation smartphones. The report also said that Samsung will supply three quarters of the A9 chips to be used for the iPhone 7.

About battery life, Macworld quoted Apple designer Jonathan Ive as saying in a Financial Times interview that "talking of performance, when the issue of the frequent need to recharge the iPhone is raised, [Ive] answers that it's because it's so light and thin that we use it so much and therefore deplete the battery. With a bigger battery it would be heavier, more cumbersome, less 'compelling.'"

The iPhone is rumored to have a pre-installed Apple SIM and a home button for gamers.
