Amid a global slump in tech consumer demand for smart devices, the trimmed version's continuing existence will be in question for the foreseeable future as the company prepares for a major revamp of its various tablet line-ups. The selfie camera, on the other hand, comes with a five-megapixel display. If rumors prove accurate, the device might also include a 4K video recording capability.

Meanwhile, reputable industry leakster and KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo supports claims by some pundits who predict a 2017 instead of a 2016 release of iPad Pro 2. This suggests that the waiting time for the second-generation tablet series may take a while. Per Kuo's note to investors (via Apple Insider), the Silicon Valley giant is likely to roll out three iPad Pro 2 variants next year. The 2017 iteration will include the standard 12.9-inch, 10.5-inch, and the budget 9.7-inch iPad Pro versions.
