iPad Pro 2 release date, specs rumors: Apple readies iPad Pro 2 for Sept. 7 reveal?
As of press time, the Cupertino-based giant hasn't released any official word yet on its highly expected tech reveal next month. Speculations continue to swirl amid growing anticipation among fans and tech observers about what Apple's next slew of hardware will be. The tech firm's iPhone 7 will surely take center stage as the main event of the show. However, some industry pundits have predicted iPad Pro's possible introduction along with Apple's other iterative upgrades on Sept. 7. Others contend a more cautious fourth quarter timeframe for the releases this year. The least optimistic Apple tracking observers think that iPad Pro 2 may not see the light of day this year. They expect non-iterative enhancements to the existing model.

Apple first unveiled the iPad Pro lineup by launching a 12.9-inch tablet in September 2015. It was followed by a smaller 9.7-inch variant during this year's Cupertino Spring event in March. Amid a global slump in tech consumer demand for smart devices, the trimmed version's continuing existence will be in question for the foreseeable future as the company prepares for a major revamp of its various tablet line-ups. While an iPad Pro 2 release this year remains uncertain with Apple's continuing silence over tech rumors, some analysts are expecting the possible arrival of a 10.5-inch variant—a midway version between the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch versions—by the end of 2016 or the beginning of next year.
As for iPad Pro 2's rumored specifications reported by Expert Reviews, the next-generation device of the iPad Pro series will reportedly run on an A10X 10nm processor which helps increase the machine's efficiency even under low heating conditions. Along with faster processing power is the gadget's improved camera sensors with higher 12-megapixel rear camera resolution compared to iPad Air's eight-megapixel snapper. The selfie camera, on the other hand, comes with a five-megapixel display. If rumors prove accurate, the device might also include a 4K video recording capability.
Meanwhile, reputable industry leakster and KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo supports claims by some pundits who predict a 2017 instead of a 2016 release of iPad Pro 2. This suggests that the waiting time for the second-generation tablet series may take a while. Per Kuo's note to investors (via Apple Insider), the Silicon Valley giant is likely to roll out three iPad Pro 2 variants next year. The 2017 iteration will include the standard 12.9-inch, 10.5-inch, and the budget 9.7-inch iPad Pro versions.
