With only two months before its official launch, "Injustice 2" is introducing a new playable character this coming Thursday.

NetherRealm announced the fighter's reveal date through a message on the official "Injustice 2" website. The news comes after the developer released a story trailer introducing Cyborg as the latest confirmed character. Titled "Shattered Alliances Part 1," the new footage features more information on how Superman and his Regime turned into one of the greatest threats to Earth. Cyborg is revealed as the new character at 0:37 of the video.

"Victor Stone lost more than his friends at the tragedy of Metropolis, he lost his hope. His anger tempered his loyalty for Superman and he has remained eager to serve the Regime. With the world left unprepared for the looming threat, Cyborg may be the only one who can combat the technological might of Brainiac," the trailer's description reads.

So far, some of the other characters confirmed for the upcoming sequel include Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Harley Quinn, Batman, The Flash, Superman, Supergirl, Poison Ivy Deadshot, Robin, Cheetah, Catwoman, Black Canary, Atrocitus, and Gorilla Grodd.

In other news, a new image for the "Injustice 2" mobile game has sparked speculations that Joker might be coming back to the sequel. The photo shows a bag filled with purple diamonds, along with Joker's photo and a stick of dynamite. WWG notes that it's likely to be Harley Quinn's bag due to its red and black color, which is also like most of her outfits. Joker tragically died in the first game at the hands of Superman, but he could still return, considering how the game features characters from alternate universes. Joker also appears different in the framed photo, and the Reddit user who uploaded it speculates that this Joker could be inspired by Heath Ledger's look in "The Dark Knight."

Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, "Injustice 2" will be released on Tuesday, May 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
