HTC is rumored to be unveiling a new midrange smartphone in January 2017. Named X10, the upcoming device is expected to be the successor of the HTC One X9 which was introduced over a year ago.

Based on reports originating from China, the HTC X10 will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. It is said to be powered by an octa-core 2 GHz MediaTek Helio P10 processor and the Mali-T860 graphics processing unit (GPU). If rumors prove to be true, there will also be 3 GB of random access memory (RAM) and a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS).

The newest device from the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has been expected to arrive for a couple of weeks now. Back in November, the X10 was one of the HTC devices spotted in a listing with the Eurasian Economic Commission, the regulatory agency for northern Eurasia. Unfortunately, the only information gained from the listing is that the HTC X10 will be available in single and dual-SIM versions.

The forthcoming smartphone is said to cost RMB 2,000 which is about $288. While the X10 probably won't be going against flagship devices, it offers pretty decent specs considering its affordable price tag.

At this time, HTC has yet to make an official announcement regarding the X10 so the aforementioned details should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, rumors posit that the device could make an appearance during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada from Jan. 5 to 8, 2017.

On the other hand, HTC also recently sent out invitations for an event titled "For U" on Jan. 12, 2017. Even though not a lot of details can be inferred from the announcement, the company is expected to unveil something special. Hopefully, more details will come to light in the next few weeks.
