Fans would be in for a thrilling ride when "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 returns to the small screen this fall. At least, that's what the series showrunner, Pete Nowalk, said.

Talking to TV Line, the story arc for the third season is bound to turn the world upside down for everyone involved in the series. It looks like the show will be switching from a "case-of-the-week" format to an overarching myth arc approach. When asked why the sudden change, Nowalk simply said he likes "switching it up."

Apparently, the move is meant to keep the show fresh and current. It will also give viewers more time to keep up with the guessing game. More importantly, the switch aims to keep elements of the show more balanced. As much as possible, Nowalk doesn't want a steady storyline to allow room for a weekly conflict format. One thing Nowalk assured fans is that he will not touch the way Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) works.

"She loves her job, and I don't think she's the same person if she's not doing it," Nowalk told TV Line. "So, whether that's case of the week or case of the season, seeing her at work is what I care about."

The International Business Times likewise reported that Frank (Charlie Weber) would be returning in "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3. It will be remembered that he left Annalise in the second season after he learned that she was in a relationship with another woman before. According to Weber, he will be a series regular coming into the third season.

Meanwhile, the Australia Network News said that Matt McGorry, who plays Asher Millstone, will be the focal point of season 3's storyline. More particularly, the third season could see something blossoming between him and Michaela (Aja Naomi King) after their one-night stand.

There is no official word yet, but "How to Get Away with Murder" will return for its third season sometime this fall on ABC.
