The second season of "How to Get Away with Murder" ended on a cliffhanger, which is the key to jumpstart the third season. However, when the show returns for its third run, Annalise Keating's Keating 5 will be back to where they should be—attending law school at Middleton University.

In an interview with TV Line, show creator Pete Nowalk said, "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 will see Annalise's (Viola Davis) reputation tarnished as someone spread her photos throughout the university with the word "KILLER" brandished on them.

"Annalise's teaching reputation is suffering," Nowalk told the outlet, adding that Annalise needs to pull herself together in order to focus on her original passions.

It will be recalled that in the season 2 finale, Wallace Mahoney (Adam Arkin) was shot to death by an unseen perpetrator right in front of Wes (Alfred Enoch), who just found out the dead man is his biological father. Moreover, Frank (Charlie Weber) skipped town after Annalise discovered that he had a hand in the accident she suffered 10 years ago, which killed her unborn baby.

Nevertheless, she will encourage the five to move on after what happened at the end of season 2, which means her Keating 5 will be seeing themselves back in school. In the words of Nowalk, Annalise will try to get the gang "to care about school again."

In an interview with E! News, Nowalk said the five will be heading to second year of law school when "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 airs. However, Wes, Connor (Jack Falahee), Michaela (Aja Naomi King), Asher (Matt McGorry), and Laurel (Karla Souza) will realize that going back to school this time will be a struggle for them, although they will try to get things back to normal.

"We are going to find them in their second year of law school now and they have to basically pick up the pieces and get their [expletive] together and move on with their lives," he said.

From the first-look photos shared by Entertainment Weekly, it looks like Keating 5 is indeed trying to move on. One photo shows them listening to Annalise in class, while another shows them enjoying cocktails as they study a case. Check out the photos here.

"How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
