'How to Get Away With Murder' season 3 news: Cast members share theories on Wes' killer
The identity of the dead body under the sheet was the mystery that ran the entire first half of "How to Get Away With Murder" season 3, and now that the big secret is out and Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) is dead, the next question in everyone's mind is, who did it?
In an on-set interview conducted by Entertainment Weekly on the day the show's midseason finale was shot, the rest of the cast share their thoughts and theories about who may have killed the beloved member of the infamous Keating 5. Was he intentionally killed, or did he just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?
Actress Aja Naomi King, who plays the role of Michaela Pratt, initially thought that Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber) may have been behind Wes' supposed murder, but shied away from the idea, which she deemed "too cruel." She cited the fact that series main protagonist Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) had made so many enemies through the years that it could very well have been anyone whose real intention was to kill the criminal defense attorney instead of her apprentice.
Weber agreed with the idea of someone taking revenge on Annalise for everything that she had done, and he has essentially helped her do.
Enoch, on the other hand, believed that the Mahoney family may have played a hand in his character's demise, after his wrongful accusations of murder against Charles (Wilson Bethel). His on-screen partner, Karla Souza, who plays Laurel Castillo, as well as Liza Weil, who in turn plays Annalise's assistant Bonnie Winterbottom, shared the same hunch.
As for Davis herself, she refused to believe that her character, Annalise, may have played a role in the death of her most favored student, despite series creator Pete Nowalk's claim that everyone is a fair suspect at this point.
"Sometimes my theories are absolutely right on, but with this one, I can't guess," Davis shared.
The identity of Wes' killer will not be revealed right away in the second of season 3, but Nowalk has promised in an interview with TV Line that every question will be answered by the end of the ongoing season.
"How to Get Away With Murder" season 3 will return on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at 10 p.m. EST as part of ABC's Thank God It's Thursday (TGIT) lineup along with the show "Scandal," both of which are executively produced by Shonda Rimes. The official TGIT trailer will reportedly have its world premiere on "Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve" happening this Saturday, Dec. 31.
