'House of Cards' season 5 release date, spoilers: Netflix reveals teaser, premiere date at Inauguration Day
The premiere date of "House of Cards" season 5 was revealed in true Netflix fashion — with a teaser released just before the presidential inauguration.
The clip showed the American Flag wave high in the sky as the Pledge of Allegiance being recited in dismal tones in the background before it revealed the "House of Cards" season 5 release date — May 30.
Fans also get an ominous warning of what's to come. "We make the terror," they captioned the video, suggesting that Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and Claire (Robin Wright) are out to keep that promise.
As Claire said in the previous season, they will never give in to the dread. Rather, they are here to bring it and it looks like every bit of terror will be felt in "House of Cards" season 5.
Not much is known about "House of Cards" season 5 in terms of the story other than a new president of the United States will be welcomed. Underwood hopes to be that guy again.
As for the release date, the new season will air much later in the year than the ones before it. The first four seasons premiered around February or March in the past years.
Netflix usually also teases the new season during the month of December to early January. The streaming giant's silence about "House of Cards" season 5 during that period has many thinking that there will be something special for the show that is coming during the Inauguration Day.
Some thought the new season will premiere during the transition of power. It turns out Netflix has been cooking something else up, which is the premiere date reveal.
"House of Cards" season 5 is rumored to be the Netflix's hit last and that Underwood will meet a tragic fate at the hands of his own wife.
However, this is mere speculation. More information on what's to come should be revealed in the coming weeks.
