'House of Cards' season 5 release date, plot spoilers: filming to last up to February
Filming for "House of Cards" season 5 is well underway. In fact, it looks like it will take more than a couple of months before the production wraps.
When asked on Twitter about the status of the shooting, actor Michael Kelly, who will be back in the new season as Doug Stamper, revealed that they are filming into February for this season.
This suggests that "House of Cards" season 5 will likely premiere in March instead of February, which is not a surprise since the fourth season premiered March 4 this year. At the moment, however, Netflix is yet to announce the release date.
Kelly has been teasing the new season on his Instagram while filming although he is not giving away plot details but simply keeping fans up to speed of the production, which began back in August.
Not much is known about what is next for Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) in "House of Cards" season 5 although it is being said that he will be in serious trouble with the cunning politician having issues with his health.
Frank was not at all in a healthy state when the previous season ended. His situation is believed to get worse in "House of Cards" season 5, but Kelly says this might not be the case.
Speaking about this possibility, Kelly told Deadline, "You lose characters that you love. We almost lost Frank, and I always have faith in the writers that no matter what road we go down, we're going to come back to what the show is."
There are also rumors that Frank will not go down for his ailing body, but the betrayal of his wife, Claire (Robin Wright), who is rumored to steal the presidency from him in "House of Cards" season 5.
Interestingly, there are even reports that Doug will turn his back against Frank. However, Kelly has emphasized several times that Frank is one of his addictions and is likely to be his ally up to the end.
