'House of Cards' Season 3 Cast News: Netflix Actress Elizabeth Norment Dies at 61
Elizabeth Norment, who plays one of the main characters in the "House of Cards," passed away due to cancer on Oct. 13 at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She was 61 years old.
Showrunner Beau Willimon told The Hollywood Reporter that the show is deeply saddened by the actress' passing. He said Elizabeth was a "talented actress, a warm soul and a good friend" to all of them.
"House of Cards" lead actor, Kevin Spacey, expressed on Twitter his mourning on the passing of his co-star. "RIP Elizabeth Norment. We all loved her and she leaves a void in all of us here at HoC's," he tweeted.
Media Rights Capital, "House of Cards" production company, has also publicly expressed its sympathy on Norment's death. In a statement to CNN, the production company said, "Elizabeth Norment was a talented actress with a beautiful spirit who touched the entire 'House of Cards' family. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."
Norment was originally from Washington DC who received a master's degree from the Yale School of Drama in 1979. In 1983, she starred in "Beethoven Tenth."
In a 1991 interview with the Los Angeles Times, she said, "A lot of people in the business either saw them or heard about [those performances]. I've been working steadily ever since."
She was also part of several TV shows including "St Elsewhere," "ER" and "Mad About You," as well as films, which include "Runaway" and "The Woman in Red."
