'Homeland' season 6 spoilers, news: Quinn rejects Carrie? Unexpected storyline turns Quinn into villain?
Quinn may be back when "Homeland" returns on air for its sixth season, but things will be far from okay as far as his and Carrie's relationship is concerned.
The season 5 finale of "Homeland" had Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) fighting for his life due to the deadly effects of sarin gas in his system. It will be recalled that his experience in the hands of jihadists was far from pleasant; he was exposed to the toxic gas and was simply a victim of terrorism. It was touch and go for him for a while, with no guarantees that he will live through his ordeal.
Nevertheless, more recent pictures from the New York set of "Homeland" season 6 showed Friend shooting some scenes as Quinn, albeit he looked much different. It appears Quinn plays will look every inch a person traumatized by terrorists – long hair, dirty clothes, and an untidy look to boot.
"Quinn this coming season will really represent a very profound and familiar casualty of the war on terror for our audience. What he endured last year is different from what he's going through this year [when it comes to Carrie]," Variety quotes showrunner Alex Gansa as saying during the Television Critics Association press tour in August.
Quinn's post-traumatic stress disorder might prompt him to shove his feelings for Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) at the back of his mind. That seems like a sad prospect considering he finally admitted his feelings to Carrie last season. Carrie might try to reach out to Quinn, but in his current state of mind, it's likely he will reject her efforts. How will Carrie react to his rejection, though?
After Quinn's harrowing experience, his indifference to Carrie will somewhat be justifiable. In fact, there are reports that Quinn will reveal a dark side to his personality, making him a villain in "Homeland" season 6. That remains to be seen, though, when the series finally starts airing.
"Homeland" season 6 will start airing on Jan. 15, 2017, on Showtime.
