Hillary Duff Divorce News: Mike Comrie Split Official as Singer Files for Divorce from Estranged Husband
After separating last year from her professional ice hockey player and husband Mike Comrie, actress-singer Hilary Duff has filed for divorce.
A representative for the singer has confirmed with Billboard that Duff submitted court documents last week seeking an end to their marriage after being together for four years.
The 27-year-old star was also reportedly hired high-profile celebrity attorney Laura Wasser to represent her, according to TMZ.
Citing sources, the gossip website said Duff complained of irreconcilable differences and fears that Comrie's partying and drinking might be detrimental to the upbringing of their son, Luca. Thus, Duff also filed for full custody of their son but granting Comrie visitation rights.
"She is reportedly asking for primary physical custody of their son, Luca, who will turn three next month, with visitation rights for the former NHL player Comrie," Billboard said in another report.
This developed just a day after the former Disney star's 34-year-old estranged husband was accused of propositioning women at an upscale restaurant in Beverly Hills, California, the International Business Times reported.
The divorce came a year after the couple announced their separation, with many still hoping for the two to reconcile since they acted like close friends and great parents for Luca while separated.
Last year, Duff hinted of a possible reconciliation after her family was seen taking hiking trips with Duff and Comrie being seen going to parties together.
"We love each other so much and we love spending time together. So when you see us out it's not just for Luca, it's because we make plans and we hang out and we don't know what our future looks like right now but we're both doing really good and just figuring out what makes us happy," Duff told E News.
Duff and Comrie tied the knot in August 2010. So far, neither Duff nor Comrie has spoken publicly about the split.
