'Half-Life 3' release date, news & update: VR version confirmed; high demand for sequel
The development of "Half-Life 3" is uncertain even until now. Fans continue to watch out for updates on the said game but so far, Valve Corporation has not made any announcement.
Fans should not lose hope though because there is still a chance that it will come. According to an interview by Kotaku with Valve programmer Jeep Barnett, there is a possibility for "Half-Life 3." There may even be a Virtual Reality (VR) version for it as the team is exploring new stuff such as the usage of VR headsets.
"We're not saying, 'no' but we don't know what the right thing is [yet]. Our most precious resource is time, and we don't have enough time for people to do everything," Barnett said.
Barnett did not reveal any further details but a VR version is likely. The only question though is when it will happen. There is no definite schedule for it. Even the game itself is not yet sure but fans are requesting it.
According to reports, fans are seriously expressing their demand for "Half-Life 3" because of Steam's recently started Steam Awards nomination. "Half-Life 2" is getting a lot of votes to be nominated for the "Game That Deserves Sequel" award. That's how much fans want a third installment and they are hoping that because of the nomination, Valve will finally act on it especially since it has been more than a decade since "Half-Life 2" was released.
Fans also want the cliffhanger of the previous title to be wrapped up. Thanks to the award category that is created through the Steam Awards custom nomination, it's now under the "We Didn't Think of Everthing" award, where users are permitted to give their own ideas on how to get more attention for a game.
To find out how things will turn out in the third sequel, fans will have to stay tuned for more updates.
