'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' release date, news: Chris Pratt wants Star-Lord to meet the Punisher
Every Marvel fan is excited to see "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" when it comes out next year. It was confirmed that the guardians will also be playing a part in the Russo Brothers' "The Avengers: Infinity War." Chris Pratt (Star-Lord aka Peter Quill) has expressed his eagerness to have his character running into the Punisher (Jon Bernthal).
In an interview with We Got This Covered, Pratt was asked about which character he was most eager to be seen teaming up with. It's interesting to note that before Pratt answered, he was clearly nervous on whether he was allowed to disclose any information on the movie. Marvel has often been fairly tight-lipped about its plans, and after some careful pondering, Pratt said that he would be happy to have his character run into the Punisher.
Pratt made no allusions to Jon Bernthal's version of the Punisher who exists in the Netflix Marvel Universe. However, he said that he was quite fond of the character when he was growing up.
Frank Castle/Punisher made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the second season of "Daredevil." The season had him going head-to-head with the Man Without Fear as both their ideologies clashed when it came to fighting crime in the city.
Bernthal's Punisher is more of a no nonsense-type of guy and having him team-up with the wisecracking Star-Lord may prove to be a bit tricky. But then again, this sort of dynamic works well for Cable and Deadpool in the comics.
The Russo Brothers have been asked on whether there's a possibility that the Netflix heroes could appear in "Infinity War," to which they said, "We do consider everyone." They didn't want to be specific as they wanted the movies to surprise audiences.
"The Avengers: Infinity War" will be one of the biggest cross-overs that Marvel has ever done in its cinematic universe. Its official release date has yet to be announced. For the meantime, the audience can watch Christ Pratt return as Star-Lord when "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
