The much awaited next installment of the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise is still under wraps, as Rockstar Games continues to focus on the present "Grand Theft Auto V" with its newly released content packs. However, as early as now, the fans begin to speculate regarding the possible release of "Grand Theft Auto VI." Given the usual five-year gap in between the release dates of two major "GTA" titles, one would expect that "GTA VI" will be out sometime in 2018. Unfortunately, the fans may have to be a little more patient and wait for an additional year or two.

According to Game N Guide, "Grand Theft Auto VI" will showcase this generation's latest innovation in gaming, which is none other than virtual reality (VR) support. Some newly released game titles have also featured VR-supported gameplay, and Rockstar Games is expected to follow with the upcoming "Grand Theft Auto" installment. The only issue with the VR feature is that it will take more money to develop this kind of game, and if Rockstar proceeds with their VR plans for "GTA VI," they will need a bigger budget. With this, the release of "GTA VI" might be delayed for additional two years.

As seen with the release date of "Grand Theft Auto IV" and "Grand Theft Auto V," there is a five-year interval before Rockstar launches a new "GTA" installment. Since "Grand Theft Auto V" was released in 2013, the next installment can be expected in 2018. However, considering the possible delay, the release of the game might be moved from 2018 to 2020.

Neurogadget reported that Rockstar Games could use up to $300 million USD to incorporate VR technology into "Grand Theft Auto VI." Given that Rockstar has enjoyed high profit from "Grand Theft Auto V," it is easy to think that the company will have enough funds to create "Grand Theft Auto VI" with VR support. Still, it will not be easy for Rockstar to make this plan happen, and they may require an extension of period in developing the game.
