'GTA 6' release date news: Rockstar Games stopping production for game sequel
Rockstar Games is momentarily pausing development for the upcoming installment of their popular racing franchise, "Grand Theft Auto." The title is facing a few problems which reportedly has to do with the game's new setting. In addition, the video game developer can't solely focus on the upcoming title since they are also planning to launch other games.
According to Neurogadget, "Grand Theft Auto 6" ("GTA 6") production has been halted for the meantime. Since the developers are planning on moving "GTA 6" to a new setting, developers need ample time to get all the details right. The news outlet reported that the video game will be making its way to the Japanese capital, Tokyo. Cars and other brands that are set to appear in the sixth installment of the game have yet to be accomplished.
Another issue that concerns Rockstar Games has to do with their upcoming installment for "Red Dead Redemption." The second installment of the franchise is expected to launch in the fall of 2017. Since the premiere is fast approaching, the developers reportedly want to focus their energy on getting things up and running just in time for the release date. Hence, the developers reportedly opted to pause production for "GTA 6" because they've got their hands full with the development of "Red Dead Redemption 2."
Furthermore, former president Leslie Benzies, who also spearheaded the development for the "GTA" franchise, is no longer with the studio. Benzies filed a lawsuit against his former colleagues.
Since the gaming industry is recently seeing massive advances in technology, Rockstar is rumored to have moved the release date of "GTA 6" to accommodate virtual reality support in the near future, Neurogadget reported.
The recent allegations have yet to be confirmed the studio, so gamers should treat the reports as speculation until proven otherwise.
Watch out for more updates on "GTA 6."
