One major showdown is brewing as series protagonist Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) and antihero Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) gear up for "Grimm's" explosive final season. But with the threat of Black Claw still looming over their heads, will the two erstwhile allies be able to set aside their differences to stand together once again for a greater cause?

Renard's actions in the previous season may have been questionable at most, but he does not seem to have completely lost his ability to feel compassion for the people he once considered his friends. Since Renard has a rather ruthless way of showing this, Nick and company will have a very hard time believing that he is doing what he's doing to protect his town.

What is Renard's endgame? Is his personal agenda really aimed at the greater good, or has it been self-serving all this time?

There is also the issue with Renard and Adalind's (Claire Coffee) powerful daughter, Diana (Hanah R. Loyd), who could be on their side as long as they do not threaten her parents' union and safety. Will Nick and Renard's impending showdown be cut short by Diana's possible interference? How does Nick hope to fight a child with the ability to kill him in a snap of her fingers?

These are just some of the conflicts that the upcoming sixth and final season of "Grimm" will be working to resolve when it finally starts airing next year for a 13-episode run. Fans are still reportedly clamoring for more, a back nine order, or perhaps another full season to really flesh out the conflicts and tie all the loose ends snugly.

Other speculations are pointing to a spinoff featuring Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) as the next best possibility to keep the series going.

The premiere episode of "Grimm" season 6 titled "Fugitive" airs Jan. 6, 2017, at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
