Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Premiere Date, Cast Spoilers: Cristina Yang Leaving Opens Way for New Doctor

The long running TV show, Grey's Anatomy, will open its new season 11 with an episode entitled "I Must Have Lost it on the Wind". In addition, fans can expect some new characters to be introduced, who will join some major ones who are to take center stage.

The promo video has been released and it teases drama and action for the fans. Along with pictures, ABC released the official synopsis for episode one:

"With Cristina gone, a new doctor, Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), making the rounds and Derek wanting to move to Washington DC, Meredith struggles to regain a sense of normalcy both at home and in the hospital," it says.

"Meanwhile, Callie and Arizona come to a decision about surrogacy, Amelia overhears a big secret, Bailey realizes she will have to fight Alex for Cristina's board seat and a freak accident causes two teenagers to be caught in a very compromising position, on the must-see season premiere."

The first episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 11 is directed by Kevin McKidd (who also plays Dr. Owen Hunt) and written by Stacy McKee. We will see some main casts appearing again, including Patrick Dempsey (plays Dr. Derek Shepherd), Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey), Chandra Wilson (plays Dr. Miranda Bailey) and Sarah Drew (plays Dr. April Kepner).

This upcoming season will be focusing on the relationship between Meredith and Margaret "Maggie". In Season 10, it was revealed that Mer is Maggie's half sister.

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 is set to air on September 25, 2014, 8pm ET on ABC.
