GoPro Hero 6 release date, specs rumors: Next-gen action camera to come with improved battery life?
Following its release last October, the GoPro Hero 5 quickly became one of the most sought after devices during the recent Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping events and the new generation action camera continues to be in demand this holiday season. Given the positive response for the Hero 5 Black and the Hero 5 Session, many are eagerly anticipating what GoPro has in store for consumers with the Hero 6.
While the Hero 5 is packed with a lot of impressive features, the action camera is not exactly devoid of performance issues. It is said that one of the main weaknesses of the Hero 5 is its battery life, especially when using Wi-Fi and the Global Positioning System (GPS). It also reportedly gets hot during prolonged use. Another issue with the Hero 5 is its poor response to touch and voice commands.
Given the very young life of the Hero 5 family, not much has been revealed about its successor. Nevertheless, the Hero 6 is expected to address most of the issues that consumers have encountered with the Hero 5.
Based on GoPro's release pattern, the Hero 6 could arrive in late 2017 at the earliest. The next-generation action camera's release could also depend on the Hero 5's success. It's no secret that GoPro has been experiencing financial difficulties as of late. Hopefully, sales of the Hero 5 will translate to a large profit for the company which in turn, could hasten the release of the Hero 6.
For those who have yet to get their hands on the Hero 5 action camera, the holiday season is the best time to purchase one due to different deals offered by retailers. GoPro is currently offering a holiday bundle with a value of $459 for the price of $399.99. Customers will receive the Hero 5 Black as well as a free 64 GB SD card, the Handler mount and a GoPro gift bag. The offer is valid for purchases made on the GoPro website and is available until Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at 3 p.m. EST.
