Google Nexus 9 Release Date, Pre-Orders Info, Specs Review: Set For Nov. 3 Launch
Google started accepting pre-orders of its Nexus 9 tablet on Friday, Oct. 17, following its announcement of the official release of the much-awaited device on Nov. 3 this year.
Nexus 9 will be released alongside the Nexus 6 phablet. Since it is a joint Google-HTC project, the HTC logo can be seen at the back bottom of the tablet.
The device has a unique brushed metal side and an 8.9-inch IPS LCD display.
According to Google, the Nexus 9 is "small enough" to be carried in one hand, definitely smaller than the Nexus 10, a device with higher working capacities.
Despite its relatively smaller size, the Nexus 9 is still pretty powerful and can work just like a laptop especially since it has a bonus offer of a magnetic keyboard folio. The keyboard is available for the users if they want to add this type of flexibility.
The integrated keyboard, which can be folded into two angles, is designed to rest securely on the user's lap.
Nexus 9 is Google's answer to the competition posed by the Microsoft Surface tablets. According to reviewers, both the Google and Microsoft tablets are good replacement for laptops.
The Nexus 9 features a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor which can work up to 2.3GHz. It has two storage options: 16GB and 32 GB. It also has a 6700mAh battery power. However, there are no specific details yet on how long the battery life can last.
As for expansion, Google did not include any slot for a memory card, saying this way users can avoid clogging the device's memory while boosting data processing speed at the same time.
The Nexus 9 will have the newest Android 5.0 L for its OS.
