Google Nexus 7 release date, specs, features news: tablet to be released this month? exciting specs list leaked
Google will reportedly release a refresh of its Google Nexus 7 this month. Some media outlets refer to it as that while others believe it will be named Pixel 7, taking after the Pixel smartphone the company recently released.
It is being said that the Google Nexus 7 will be manufactured by Huawei and that it will debut the hybrid Andromeda operating system (OS), which combines Chrome and Android features.
However, there are conflicting reports that the device will don the Android 7.1 Nougat instead of the Andromeda hybrid OS.
It is said that a developer preview of the OS could be on board the device while there will be versions of the Google Nexus 7 with the Android software. At this point, this aspect of the device remains unclear.
Additionally, there is also no definite information as to what the Google-branded offering will really be called. Some say that it will be Google Nexus 7 despite the company's recent launching of the all-new Pixel line.
However, sources that spoke to 9to5google a couple of months back are referring to the device as a Nexus tablet as opposed to a Pixel-branded one.
As for the specifications and features, the purported Google Nexus 7 device is said to have a seven-inch Quad High-Definition (QHD) display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor to keep the lights on, and with the Adreno 530 graphics processing unit (GPU) helping to churn out power.
It will also reportedly pack up to 4 GB random-access memory (RAM) and 64 GB storage space, which is imagined to be expandable up to a whopping 2 TB with a microSD card. A 13-megapixel primary shooter is also expected.
All this will definitely come as major upgrades to the older version from 2013, which also serves as the latest in the lineup.
The Google Nexus 7 should turn up anytime soon if the rumors about its end-of-the-year release date are accurate.
